Concerts

Concerts provide a great and diverse means of having a good time in very informal settings or in highly formal situations. Depending on your time and appetite a concert provides a focal event that can be added to in a full day's or night's outing.

Concerts happen every weekend at churches, town squares, jazz houses, coffee houses, high school auditoriums, concert halls and opera houses. Concerts happen at special places reserved for the performing arts like Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center or at sports coliseums. Some feature amateurs while others present highly paid professional musicians. Often concerts of notable musicians provide the crowd-warming necessary for successful political events.

The key to finding and attending an enjoyable concert is to do your planning ahead. First figure out what kind of music you want to hear. Next determine time and place - even if it is within a couple of weeks and within a geographic radius. Next determine your budget.  This will determine whether you need to look for free public supported concerts or private affairs. This may also help you to determine the class of seating based on costs. If dinner is an inseparable part of the evening's experience you can combine the two into a dinner showplace where you eat buffet style then sit down to entertainment.

Some concerts literally allow you to have a picnic on the green then listen to the concert under the stars - such places as Wolftrap in N. Virginia, the Esplanade in Boston, the Arch Park in St. Louis and literally hundreds of other areas offer special music under the stars - ideal for old folks, young people in love and kids. Other concerts require you to dress up and act like the tops of society enjoying La Boem or The Magic Flute in one of the many opera houses around the world.  Opera for some - jazz houses for others - music defines the soul and brings together people from all races and levels of society. If you plan - using internet resources - you can get the most out of the experience at minimal cost.  Concerts are the defining core around which memories are made. Enjoy!
