Dinner Theater

Dinner theater is a powerful combination of two of the best forms of entertainment: dinner and a play. Normally the play will take place during the meal but sometimes the play will take place after the meal is over and a secondary meal is being had, usually a desert or coffee.
The plays that happen at dinner theaters are usually small, low budget productions, hosted by the restaurant. Sometimes, if you're lucky, there will be a high budget popular play that will be performed for the guests but usually it is a small and intimate affair that involves a home written play that is merely there for background entertainment and a bit of fun. Having started in the 1950’s, dinner theater has spread across the world and is especially popular in cities with a lot of nightlife. Branching out from the traditional realm of dinner and a movie, dinner theater brings both forms of nightlife into one.
For those thinking of going out to the theater and having dinner be prepared to pay a little extra. Because dinner theater hasn't really hit the “mainstream” it has its own niche of people that attend and it's usually an event that costs a bit more than your average night on the town. Your attire to dinner theater will be a bit more than just jeans and a t-shirt as well. Guests are usually expected to wear business attire with sports coats for the men and evening gowns for the women.
But before you get too wrapped up in the moment, dinner theater is supposed to be fun so don't expect the high-folluted dress and fancy dinner to take from the evening. Laugh and enjoy. If you're adventurous you can take the whole family to a family oriented dinner theater show, which normally involves a themed affair such as a pirate or medieval play and dinner. These are not as strict with attire and strictly about fun and excitement with your family.
Whatever type you choose to attend, go hungry and ready for some all out fun with your play and dinner. Dinner theater is the perfect experience for a date or family outing on a weekend evening. There’s no better way to bond than over food and entertainment.
