Karaoke

Karaoke is a form of live performance in which people get up onto a stage and sing along to popular dance or pop songs. Karaoke started in Japan and become a cultural phenomenon all throughout Asia. Eventually spreading to the United States, karaoke is popular almost anywhere in everywhere, often providing more entertainment than a movie or comedy act. There is nothing better than watching your friends get up and attempt to sing like the pros as everyone cheers and jeers at them as they sing.

Many people who haven't tried karaoke think it's a difficult task to remember all of the lyrics and sing just like the pros do. But once you realize that it's all for fun and relax a bit, karaoke can be very entertaining. The words to the song you choose to sing show up on a television screen and highlight themselves as they are meant to be sung. If you miss a few words, don't worry. Everyone is there to cheer you on.

In countries like Japan and China, karaoke clubs are everywhere because, like bars and night clubs in other countries, karaoke clubs are just as popular in the Eastern countries. On the other hand, in the United States you're most likely going to find a karaoke bar incorporated with some other type of nightlife activity such as dancing or drinking. Many big cities like New York City or Los Angeles will have specialized karaoke bars whereas the rest of the country is most likely going to have a "karaoke night," where during certain ours of operation, a bar will set up a karaoke machine for use.

Karaoke isn't any fun without friends so be sure to bring a couple of them along if you decide to try karaoke. If you're lucky enough to live in or visit a big city, visit a dedicated karaoke bar because while the "karaoke night" bars are alright to get a taste, they are often dull and drab when it comes to catering to the karaoke crowd. It is better to find a place that specializes in the activity so you're not disappointed.
