Tennis

Tennis has been around for as long as you can probably remember and will be around for even longer after you're gone. It is one of the most popular sports in the entire world and spans so many countries and language barriers that almost all people, young and old, know what it is. It isn't the most difficult game in the world but for the professionals, it's like a game of chess. Whether you want to play or watch, tennis is great fun for all involved.

You can begin playing tennis just about anywhere. If you're on vacation your hotel will more than likely have a gym or outdoor tennis court on site. If not, there are many public parks that have tennis facilities available to the public for free or for a nominal fee. You can buy tennis racquet's for a relatively cheap price at any sports facility and get started right away.

The rules of the game are fairly simple. The ball must stay within the white lines of the court and cannot bounce twice. Players hit the tennis ball back and forth over the net until someone misses and the ball goes out of bounds or the ball hits the net and falls to the ground. There are plenty of books available to teach the rules of the game and if necessary, you can get a coach to help you.

Depending on the time of year and your location, you may be able to catch a tennis match or tournament such as the U.S. Open. Tickets for events like this are expensive but are definitely thrilling. The only downside is that you must book your tickets before the matches are played. You will never know who will be playing in the final until the match before is played. No matter who is playing though, it is sure to be a great show.

You can also play in smaller, regional tournaments if you want. These are normally organized by a community center and are free to enter. Tennis can be played leisurely very easily and the sport is a great way to bond or interact with friends and family.
