Volleyball

Volleyball has been around for quite a long time and many people spend their childhoods enjoying a friendly game in the yard, pool, or on the beach. One of the most comfortable, and usually the most proper way to play, is court-side, on a hard court. You can play volleyball just about anywhere there is a net and enough space to play, but on a regulated hard court, the game is much easier.
Volleyball consists of a court that is similar to tennis and is played with 12 people. While official rules call for 6 players on each side, if you're playing with your friends you can easily get away with less. The teams start on either side of a net that is placed in the center of the court and take turns hitting a ball back and forth over the net until it hits the ground or goes out of bounds. Whichever team can make the other team miss the ball and ultimately make the ball hit the ground, scores a point. The game is played in a set form in which a certain number of points are needed to win the set and a certain number of sets are needed to win the game. When playing with friends these numbers can easily be changed and moved to your liking.
If you are able to find a volleyball court in a park or gym facility, you can ask other people to join you for a game. They should be more than happy to join. There are different types of techniques in volleyball but the two most important ones are serving and blocking in which both require a great deal of skill. If you are unfamiliar with the rules or the techniques involved in the game, don't hesitate to ask someone that does know or spend time practicing your shots for a better game.
Depending on where you play, you may not have to pay anything to play volleyball. It is definitely a family friendly activity and whether you're on vacation or just at the gym looking to get a workout, it is a great way to burn off some excess energy with an inexpensive ball. Keep your game face on and get ready to slam the ball to victory!
