Nothing mystifies the human mind more than magic and because of that, if you're in a big city such as Las Vegas, Nevada there is no excuse as to why you haven't seen a magic show. Magic tests the boundaries of what's possible by creating the illusion that something out of the ordinary or supernatural is occurring. Good magicians can make the onlookers believe that what they have done is defy the odds and perform the impossible. Whether it's making people disappear or guessing a card out of a deck of seemingly infinite possibilities, magicians have defied people's minds for centuries and continue to do so today.
Magicians vary in technique and with so many different types of magic shows, it's hard to pick just one. Some magicians specialize in street magic and you may be lucky enough to run into a magic show that is happening on a street corner as you walk by. If you choose to pay to go into a magic show it is important to remember that it is all an illusion. Many people get frightened by the prospect of someone getting cut in half. But, there is no need to fear, they are not actually in half, it is all an illusion. But don't expect the average magician to tell you how the trick is done. It would defy their code of ethics.
Magicians like Penn and Teller in Las Vegas defy the code of ethics among magicians, in that, instead of hiding all of their tricks from the audience like most magicians do, they perform their tricks and show the audience how it is all performed. By incorporating humor and a play-by-play approach to their magic, they have become one of the most loved and hated duos in modern magic. Other performers like Kirby Van Burch, who performs in Branson, Missouri, present a typical style of magic in which grandiose tricks are the norm. From making a woman disappear to assembling helicopters on the stage within a few seconds behind a curtain, he is what people typically think of when they think of a magician.
Young or old, everyone loves magic and there's no reason you can't experience the excitement of a magic show while on vacation or on the weekend in a city near you.
