Zoos bring us closer than ever to the animals we know and love. By avoiding the cost of taking a plane all the way to a wildlife preserve in Kenya, zoos bring wonderful animals and breathtaking spectacles of magnificent wildlife closer than ever before. For about the price of a movie ticket, you can head over to a local zoo and see the thousands of species of animals that engulf our planet.
Kids love wildlife and exotic animals because they often see them in story books and television shows. Zoos bring them closer to those animals in a safe environment. While many frown upon the idea of animal captivity, the animals are well treated and you can rest assured that those taking care of the wild animals know how to stay safe and how to keep the animal well nourished and entertained. Many people never get to see animals in their natural habitat and "traveling" through all of the different continents and countries in an easy to navigate park is the best way to spend a day getting to learn all about the exotic life they've only ever heard of.
Ranging anywhere from African safari animals like lions and gazelles to creatures from the Amazonian floor like snakes and lizards, zoos have many different regions to explore. For those frightened by reptiles or large creatures, there are easy ways around the park so you don't have to scare the little ones or yourself while making your way through. Zoos often have activities to participate in to diversify your day. With exhibits ranging from bird shows in which bird handlers and trained birds fly around atriums, to animal rides and petting zoos, there's plenty to enjoy.
At the end of the day you can check out the gift shops which usually have reasonably priced memorabilia that can entertain the kids even after you leave the zoo. Ranging in price, you can often get stuffed animals or zoo related toys as gifts or a bit of entertainment on the car ride home. Because zoos often help endangered species grow in population, if you have the extra money, it may be a good idea to donate to a fund that keeps endangered species alive. The money goes to a good cause and you can know that you left the zoo helping another creature survive one more day.
