Laser tag and its derivative paintball tag can be for the entire family and friends and can be very physically challenging. Often such facilities have their own themes and fantasy environments where you can divide into teams against each other or you can fight or compete against virtual monsters and enemies that are set up by the facility to challenge you.
Laser tag uses infrared sensors carried on your helmet, chest or back and when they sense a tag from an opponent's laser you either are declared dead and removed from further competition or you are declared wounded or incapacitated for a limited period of time. The score keeping can be computerized and spectators can keep an integrated picture of how the battle is going in near real time.
The important thing to remember in laser tag is to organize your group in advance, talk about communication and general tactics and discuss safety - then discuss safety again and again.
