In basketball two play teams, each of which has five players. The purpose by every team in basketball is to plunge a ball in a basket of the contender and to prevent another team to take possession of a ball, and to return it to the basket. With basketball it is possible to play only by hands. To run with a ball, purposely to beat on it by a leg, to block by any part of a leg or to beat on it by a fist is infringement resulting in loss of control of the basketball to the other team. These rules are fast moving but reasonable as determined by the referees. The casual contact of a ball by a leg is not infringement. The game consists of four periods for ten minutes with breaks for two minutes.
The greatest development the game has received in USA, where was organized one of the strongest basketball championships - championship of NBA, National Basketball Association.
Players are usually very, very tall with Eastern Europeans and Asians recently added to the USA professional teams as among the best in the world.
