Rock Climbing

There are so many beautiful places in the world to explore and so many thrilling activities to try. One of those activities that combines both the beauty of exploring and the thrill of an activity is rock climbing. It gets the heart pumping as you climb the edge of a cliff all the way to the top to look at a potentially pristine landscape.

Rock climbing works by tethering a rope around your waist and tying it off at the top of the cliff. You ensure the rope is tight and you begin to work your way up the cliff by grabbing at protruding rocks to pull yourself up higher. This type of rock climbing is suitable for beginners and is the best way to get started. As you get more experienced you may want to go without a rope and follow your own path. Typically in rock climbing vacation packages you are given s predetermined "safe" path to follow. As you work your way up the cliff, you stop and start at given intervals. For those looking to explore on their own, you can grab onto any rock you wish and work your way to the top in any fashion you want. And as you become an expert at rock climbing, you may want to start scaling cliffs without any help whatsoever, climbing seemingly flat surfaces all the way to the top, hundreds of feet up. If you make a mistake at this level, you're most likely going to be seriously injured.

If you're on vacation in a national park or a wildlife area, you're bound to find good places to rock climb. If it's your first time climbing, be sure to bring a second person along with you and an instructor. Instructors will make sure your first experience is enjoyable and that you'll want to come back. Safety is important when rock climbing so always listen to your instructor and wear the proper climbing gear.

Rock climbing isn't for everyone. For this reason, if you're scared of heights or the idea of falling, climbing may not be for you. But if you're ready to get a thrill out of life, with just yourself or a significant other, rock climbing is a great way to start.
