Although fishing is a term that literally means catching the fishes, it also connotes many other things like fishing for amusements, commercial fishing, game fishing etc. People indulge in fishing both for food as well as sheer pleasure of indulging in it. Now-a-days, fishing is done by many commercial fishing companies.

Fishing or hunting for fishes have been the practice of people since ancient times and different techniques of fishing have come up over the years. They include catching through hand gathering, by using a spear, catching with nets etc. At present, fishing has become a big industry that caters to the big demand of fishes.

They arrange fishing competitions to promote it as a sport, sport fishing. While there may not be any culinary delight in it, catching the fish is regarded as an occasion of recreation. Big-game fishing is fishing from the boats on the river or lakes, where one can catch large species of fishes like tuna and marlin. While you can catch fishes of small sizes through the rod and bait, you can catch large fishes from the boats. By arranging nets in the water to trap the fishes, you can practically catch fishes of any size.

With the growing popularity of fishing as a sport and hobby, many agencies have also started providing the facility of fishing resorts. You can go alone or with your family or friends and have a good time there.
