Family Vacation
If you have teen children then you know for sure that if they are happy with the vacation, everybody is happy and vice versa. Teens are quite enthusiastic about traveling, but their interests and as well as schedules are often absolutely not aligned with those of younger peers or parents. And the teen malcontent can spoil any family vacation travel, except for cases when this vacation will completely fit his tastes and interests. So you will need to compromise and follow some easy tips listed below.
Discuss the vacation time with everyone. Make sure that the date you choose won't ruin their plans and coordinate the vacation with any after-school activities and part time job schedules of your teens.
Involve them into the planning process from the very start. Sit them down and ask what vacation spent together with the family they remember to be the best one. And ask where would they choose to go if they could go anywhere in the world. Listen attentively and even if the idea of sitting on the local beach for whole week is absolutely not what you had in mind, try to apply it somehow and find a compromise.
One the decision is made, give your teen full freedom to introduce what-to-do ideas. They usually spend a lot of time online nowadays and thus always know where to look for the best ideas of what to see and do during the vacation in some certain destination. And again, don't be in a hurry to move these ideas to trash box.
Don't forget your children will soon open the doors of another world, that of adults and grown-ups, so it would be a great idea to give teens a mini introduction. Invite your child to dine at some white-tablecloth restaurant, take him/her to a Broadway show and art gallery, show you teen other pure adult outings.
The family vacation travel will become the great opportunity to devote some time to your teens so don't be afraid to implement their ideas together – it will considerably add to the confidence in your relations and prove really useful experience.
