Hawaii (the 50th state) is an archipelago of 24 islands located in the central Pacific Ocean. It is separated from the mainland of the United States by 4 thousand miles of Pacific waters. Its largest islands are Hawaii, Kaho’olawe, Oahu, Maui, and Cowan. 

The U.S. borders two oceans: the Pacific to the west and the Atlantic to the east. The total length of the coastline in the United States is 19,924 km.
