Statue of Liberty

It has long been in the minds of all people across the globe. It is a unique building that has become a symbol of the United States. The Statue of Liberty, a gift from the French people to the U.S. Government, was first opened for public visits in 1886. It was designed by French architect Frederic Batoldi (Frederick Batholdi). He did leave the original drawings of buildings once the building was completed in 1886 (it is not known why). For this reason, the National Parks Service of the U.S. (US National Park Service) set out to create a computer model of the monument in 2001. The interior of this 46-meter statue consists of a 22-story curved staircase that ascends to the crown, which is decorated with the head of the statue. In the basement the monument is a museum.

This century old monument has been not only the symbol of architectural ingenuity but also signifies the friendship between the people of France and America. This is also recognized as the mark of freedom and democratic values all over the world. While the torch is regarded as the symbol of enlightenment, the Keystone in the hand, showing the date of United States Declaration of Independence is supposed to be the embodiment of knowledge. Interestingly, the structure was shipped from France in 350 different pieces, which was assembled together later.

The Statue of Liberty has also become part of the culture and tradition America. It has found its place in many pictures, coins, books, posters and many others. Many stories have been written revolving around it. Movies have incorporated and depicted the structure in various ways. Even there are popular video games that have character resembling it.

The Statue of Liberty was closed to visitor for a brief period in 2001, but the observation deck of the statue has opened since 2004. Kids are not allowed to stroll on the Promenade but they can go around the Liberty Island. Although there is no admission fee to visit the Liberty State Park, you have to pay for the ferry to get there. You can also climb the crown of the Statue of Liberty by purchasing the ticket.
