Hollywood (California, Los Angeles)

The town has been at the center of the movies business and has successfully created a special identity of its own. Over the years, people from all over the world visit the place to carve out a niche in the movie business. In fact the movies, especially the English ones, are synonymous with Hollywood.

In the year, 1911, the first studio in Hollywood came into being and since then, there has been no looking back, as far as movie industry there is concerned. The big movie production companies like the Paramount, Warner Bros. and Columbia have opened their houses here and produced many block busters since then.

The television industry also got its first foot-hold here, when the first commercial television station started its first operation in 1947. Later, many music recording studios were established. By 1985, it got its first official recognition as a place of importance, after the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District was placed in the National Register of Historic Places. Measures were taken to protect important structures, in order to keep the sanctity and historical significance of the place in tact.

Of late, many of the big studios have shifted to other locations in the city of Los Angeles. But some studios including the Paramount Pictures still do their production in Hollywood.

For visitors, Hollywood offers a myriad of attractions. You can go on a tour to the Hollywood Boulevard and have a good time amidst souvenir shops or if you are lucky, you can even watch an event starred by important movie personalities. You may also get the opportunity to visit a film set and get first-hand knowledge of films are made. The Hollywood Bowl is another place, where you can enjoy a concert in the charming surrounding. The Philharmonic Jazz is a special feature of it. Visitors can also picnic here before the concert begins, with food and wine.
