The average American worker vacation is 2-3 weeks per year. Most people prefer to rest a few times a year by splitting up their week-long vacation periods. The most popular destinations in the winter are the Caribbean and Mexico and in the summer; Europe. Domestically the best places to rest are Florida and California. Colorado is known for its ski resorts. Fans of gambling to either Las Vegas or Atlantic City in the east. 

Americans love going on cruise ships. These travel ships are very expensive. There are over 90 different boat companies in the United States, including foreign ones. During the summer, the most popular cruises are to Bermuda and in the winter, ones to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Cruises usually last for a week and during this time the tourists have time to visit at least 3 to 5 islands.

Since the late 70s, there has been an expansion in cycling tourism. Mountain biking also took off and the creation of a new model of bike suitable for mountain trails was invented. The biked weighs between 12 and 13 kg. It's convenient, easy to move, and strong enough to withstand considerable pressure. The bike is also equipped with hand brakes and many speeds. These bikes usually cost about $450 and urban models run about $100.

The U.S. invented the “combined” tour package (including air travel and travel in rented cars). American travel agencies are closely linked to the transport companies. They are able to offer significant discounts on airfares and car rental. Excellent roads and an extensive infrastructure make auto tours an attractive offer compared to the rest because they provide flexibility in seat choices, restaurants, and hotels.
