California is the 31st state of USA, founded in 1850. The name was received from the Spanish word «Califia» - some heavenly place, praised in romances in 1510. And since 1968, the state has been called the California Golden States (The Golden State). This state was called this for two reasons: first, in California in 1848 enormous quantities of gold were found, and secondly, golden poppies are grown there!

The area California is almost 164 thousand square miles making it the 3rd largest state. The population of California is in first place with nearly 34 million people! California is a heavily industrialized state. The main industries are: aerospace, electronic and oil industry, the production of hardware and software, tourism and film. Also significant are agriculture: vegetables, fruits and nuts, and grapes (and, of course, the Californian wine).
The flag shows a California grizzly bear because there are many bears.
The capital of California - Sacramento, the largest cities - Los Angeles (City of Angels), San Francisco (city-style disco), San Jose, San Diego, and others.
What is famous in California?
1) Death Valley (about 93 meters below sea level) is the lowest place in the country.
2) U.S. President Richard Nixon - January 9, 1913 was born in the city of Yorba Linda.

The Golden State Museum was opened in late 1998 in the state capital. It is dedicated to the history of the state, and its memorable moments in modern life.
Los Angeles
Hollywood - the area in the north-western part of Los Angeles is the center of the film and television industry in the United States. The date of its foundation can be considered 1880 when entrepreneur Harvey Wilcox recorded his ranch under the name Hollywood and began to sell land contracts. Hollywood merged with Los Angeles in 1910 and the first film studio was here in 1911.
Angels' Walk - a unique park dedicated to the city, its history, values and people: the fountain, cover a territory of more than 4000 square meters, a library, adorned with a golden pyramid on top, a headless statue of a businessman in an office building, and a historic railroad - are just some of the sights of the park.
Historic Los Angeles Theatres - City of Angels is famous for its movies industry (Hollywood far!);

Los Angeles Theatre is one of the most beautiful Palaces built on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles between 1911 and 1931. The central staircase and gold brocaded drapes are reminiscent of the French Baroque. But all this movie magnificence can be seen only once in a year when the Los Angeles old movies festival occurs.
Lowe's State Theatre is one of a network of cinemas company Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer's. It shows movies and vaudevilles and has its own orchestra and chorus.
San Francisco
A unique and exciting city is proud of its attractions, which has no analogues in the world. It has a huge selection of entertainment for all tastes (historical museums, art galleries, theaters, shops, restaurants, etc.) and reflects the ethnic diversity and cultural richness of San Francisco.
Undoubtedly, the most famous building of the city is the Golden Gate Bridge.
