Sneak into the Capitol's House and Senate chambers and watch the law maker's debate on various issues. You can also pick up the organic fruits and the local crafts from the Eastern Market.
District of Columbia is awash with various events of various hues and colours. The Jazz Festival characterizes up to 80 jazz performances that are conducted in more than 35 clubs, hotels, bars and other places. The Source Festival is a fully musical festival that characterizes poetry, hip-hop, puppetry and the spoken word. SILVERDOCS is another festival that characterizes discussions on films, lectures on films, and post film discussions.
The District of Columbia conducts culinary festivals throughout the third week of June. During this period, the restaurants all through serve special Children’s menu. The main objective is to promote healthy eating and special menu is prepared.
District of Columbia has a thriving night life. After the sun sets, you can set out for the various nightclubs (for example 9.30 Club, Blues Alley and the Bohemian) and just let your hair down. You can explore the U Street, where Duke Ellington had played the first notes. Places like Polly’s and Bohemian Caverns attract people for the wonderfully soft music and the discussions around the music. The H Street Corridor, situated north of the Union Station is home to hotels that hosts many rock and jazz bands. The Palace of Wonders on the H Street is a two level tavern that is known for its musical extravaganza.
