Illinois Travel Guide
Illinois is the 21st state and was admitted as a State on Dec. 3, 1818. The area of the state is about 58 thousand square miles with a population of about 12.5 million.
The flag of Illinois shows the state seal relationship to one of the principal characters - Cardinal bird. The flag was adopted in 1915. Some of the symbols are the flower - violet, and wood - white oak. The state took its name in one of the indigenous languages of the word «warriors».
Illinois - the state has a developed economy. Industry: machinery, electrical equipment, metal processing, chemical and food industries, transport, oil refining and aerospace engineering are all part of the economy. There is also an agricultural sector that includes corn, soybeans, wheat, and livestock.
Illinois is famous for the city of Chicago, the Mississippi River that flows along its western border, and the 40th U.S. President, Ronald Wilson Reagan.
The capital of Illinois is Springfield. The major cities are Chicago, Rockford, Aurora, Peoria and others.

Springfield
The capital of Illinois is the governmental, commercial and cultural center of the state. One of the main tourist sites the city is the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library - Museum, Library, dedicated to Lincoln, who lived in Springfield from 1837 to 1861.
Also, there is the mausoleum of A. Lincoln (Lincoln's Tomb, Oak Ridge Cemetery), built in 1895 and later rebuilt several times. Near the mausoleum is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, dedicated to those who died in the war with Vietnam.
There is a One Stop Citizen Service Center, an information center for residents and guests of the city, where you can get answers to any questions relating to city life (phone 789-24-68).
Chicago
The city has a remarkable architecture and is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. The giant park in front of the lake is 46 kilometers of beaches and beautiful green gardens. Here in Grant Park are famous cultural objects of the country: Museum of Science and Industry, Sheddi Aquarium, and the Chicago Art Institute.
Chicago is one of the most famous cultural centers in the United States. For example, in Chicago, we find famous international music festivals: Chicago Blues Festival, Chicago Country Music Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Chicago Latin Music Festival (Festival this summer).
