Kentucky - The name comes from the language of Indian tribe Iroquois: the word «Ken-tah-ten» meant «the land of tomorrow». This has been the 15th state of the United States since 1792. Area of Kentucky - nearly 40.5 thousand square miles. The population - slightly more than 4 million people.
Kentucky is called the «Bluegrass State» (Staff Blue Grass). In fact, this kind of grass is green, but in spring it appears to have small bluish-purple buds, and from a distance it looks like a dove. It was found by the first colonists, and soon the seeds of this plant were brought to Europe.

What to see
Mammoth Cave - the longest of the known systems of karst caves in the world. It was discovered and studied and found to have more than 348 miles of underground labyrinth.
Churchill Downs - race track city Louisville. It is where there are competitions for thoroughbred horses; a wonderful and exciting spectacle!
Newport Aquarium - huge aquarium town Newport. You can see a pool with sharks, king penguins, the Medusa Gallery, the Bay alligators, and much more.
Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park - one of the most popular places in the state. Big Lake Kentucky (Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley), and the beach are an ideal place for tourists who love water sports, fishing and hunting. They are called Land Between the Lakes and you can visit the habitat of bison and elk, the farm built in 1800, (The Homeplace), a planetarium, and an exhibition gallery.
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom - one of the entertainment parks called Six Flags with the famous toboggan ride. It is located in the city of Louisville.
Sights of the capital - the city of Frankfort
Floral Clock: It is more than 10 meters in diameter and made of flowers! Nearby is a fountain, which you must throw a coin into for happiness.
Old State Capitol is a building for the state of Kentucky from 1830 to 1910. The building is built in the Greek style with a unique staircase that does not support anything other than its internal pressure which was the accurate calculation of architect (located at the intersection of Broadway and Lewis Street).
Buffalo Trace Distillery - one of the oldest places in the production of bourbon, which began here more than two centuries ago and was a favorite place for colonists, the first conquerors of America West. Now a huge distillery, the plant is proud of the twelve largest fermenters and 4-story distillation tower.
